Exxon Mobil posts $40.6 billion profit - Earnings- msnbc.com
Exxon and the oil barons can raise fuel prices with impunity. $4 a gallon I would pay if it was a green tax on carbon to fund mass transit.
But the $4 a gallon at the gas tank is just another way rich people are fleecing us working people of every dollar -- in this case in the name of profit -- which seems to have no upper limit.
Basta.

Feds Want More Critical Habitat for Lynx - New York Times Keep in mind that lynx are link species -- they are indicators for a complex ecosystem of plants and animals that are at risk if the lynx go the way of the Asian Tiger. Dead.

BBC NEWS | Africa | S Africa to allow elephant cull
BBC NEWS | Africa | S Africa to allow elephant cull
Another case of human over population leading us to demonize an animal in order to kill it off -- to "cull" as we like to say about murder.
Here in suburban Seattle some people have the same perspective about cougars living in their neighborhood. Excuse me. Your planned community was built in that cat's forest aka its home.
But the way we see it is with a rifle scope.
I want to see more urban corridors left open for wildlife -- so we begin to integrate them into our daily lives -- and coexist.
This news about elephants being killed in the face of the biggest extinction of species going on today. Why?
Because of our relentless push into other animals habitats on land and sea, we need to find another path.
And this is not just a case of overzealous brutality to wild animals. Our food comes from slaughterhouses full of brutality to animals AND the people working in them.
With regard to the "culls" of wildlife -- there has to be a new balance struck that gives animals their own "space" to thrive.
This space creates a refuge that in turn makes us human.

Good Climate Policy, Bad Politics - TierneyLab - Science - New York Times Blog
I am for a carbon tax in Washington. I think we need to get the tax built into all our products. The tax money collected gets put into research for green energy paths -- first of all conservation.
Why do we fuss about a $1 a gallon tax when Exxon can raise the gallon of gas up as much as it wants and no one stops them? Time we started taking control of our energy needs and stop letting corporations run over us.
The days of slavery to automobiles driving gas are over. Break the bonds. Organize for a carbon tax. What are your thoughts?
Will we change in time? Or will burning fossil fuels turn us into fossils?

Obama’s Path to Victory - New York Times
Obama’s Path to Victory - New York Times William Kristol beat the drum for Iraq loudly as the Bush Cheney fear mongers went after Americans to gin up a war without end instead of going after terrorists.
Here is his run down of Obama winning the nomination. As one who wanted Edwards --for his focus on stopping poverty in America, and a health care plan that gets us to universal health care -- I support Obama now because he's not surrounded by Bill & Hillary's triangulators.
So read Bill Kristol and let me know what you think. His narrative sounds plausible.

The Endless Pursuit of Unnecessary Things - Dot Earth - Climate Change and Sustainability - New York Times Blog
Endless pursuit of more stuff? What else if 9 billion people are on the Earth in a few years? Well-- perhaps another lifestyle?
How about doing more with less.
How about cutting back and saving instead of buying that extra something special?
We get clothes at Good Will as a trade off to living simply.
New cords for $1.00 lets us save for family vacation and still raise a family.
The link to NYT has some fine links -- Andrew Revkin is one of the best people in the NYT ecosystem.

Here's what I really want to drive -- a new Tesla -- electric and electrifying on the road.
Greens have to differentiate themselves with Prius design and Tesla power.
Driving green should be fun.
Thanks to Craig Rubens @ Earth2Tech.
